Gear fieldtrip

the trip me and my colleagues just took to Gear for Sports was amazing. it was so cool to see a print shop and graphic design offices in one giant place, i will put a video at the end of this post with pictures of the entire event. but Gear For Sports has been in buisiness for over 35 years creating and designing sportswear.
the brands they creat sportwear for is Champion and Under Armour. their brands provide customers with a single recourse for all of their sportwear needs. from t-shirts, caps, fleece, luxury men's fashions to performance waer and performance outwear. this companie is comprised of over 70 different graphic designers, and they create ocver 80,000 new and custom graphics each year. and in this facility they can create and produce over 70,000 garments a day with a less than 1% return rate.

Creating a portfolio

so i just recently created an online portfolio the web address is "https://andrew-dutton-wfk6.squarespace.com" and it shows briefly some of my recent and well done work that i am pleased with. the website i used is just phenomenal, and really easy to use. the website gives it a very professional look with no hard work and is totally worth it. big shout out to "Squarespace.com" . here are some pictures that will give you a little glance at what my portfolio looks like.

e-Magine

so recently there was this festival and it was great because there was a lot of cool things that people made and it was very interesting, i made the top 5 with my vector of a motorcycle
and that placed not in the top, i am guessing it did not because it had no real life use, it is just a really awesome vector that got the most reaction out of the crowd when it came out, but because i did not put it with an application to the world, it did not win. here is a photo that proves i was here

Creating A .gif

So this has to be one of the coolest things i have done in a while. I love creating amazing designs, but whats even better, is turning those awesome designs into animations or .gif's.

my inspiration for this was an old beatles cover that had four different squares and a very vibrant and different color on each square.
and from this inspiring cover i took the idea, put the toxic symbol in the middle of some splatter drops, and kept the vibrant colors.
and so for me in the beginning thats all i was going to do, that was my goal and i have accomplished it. but then just a few days ago i was going through all of my old work to see if I maybe had something un-finished or wanted to improve. So i ran by this, and just before i saw a color changing gif, Right then i made the connection that i wanted to turn this into a gif. it was really easy and simple. i loved it and i love watching it change colors.

Design Challenge

Recently I had a design challenge, and i picked a Retro Vintage Vector style that looks really cool. They are made up with lots of simple shapes and patterns, have mainly two sometimes 3 colors to them, And use a lot of negative space. At the same time i received this challenge i was working on a logo for a company that needed a revamped logo to look cool. So i decided that since i am going retro vintage for my challenge, why not make the logo into a somewhat retro vintage vector look as well. so here below is where i got my basis for the retro vintage style.

And from this i took two of those and tried to duplicate them to get the feel of the style.  From this i have gotten to know more, not only about this style but just ways you can easily use negative space. there is so much going on is just a few simple shapes. a lot of these have almost "strokes" on every solid object to detach itself from the adjacent objects to make a better looking object. And so from this I made the logos for my friends company, the company name is Bulldog Off road products. he wanted the logo in Black and Blaze Orange, and wanted the Bulldog logo in it. So in favor of "Retro Vintage" i made some with a desaturated color to show how it could relate to the style, and i also made the few in Blaze orange for the customer.
